Bramblin' On . . . Gonna get my drink on.

In the style of Led Zeppelin my friends. On a recent visit to the midwest, we had the opportunity to enjoy a great dinner out at a seafood restaurant. "Seafood??" you're thinking. Well, McCormick & Schmick is a cut above your average seafood restaurant. They fly in their fresh fish daily and they have a good bar where they make their drinks with real fruit and juices - no mixes. So, in the mood for a interesting cocktail that would go well with seafood, I opted for their Blackberry Bramble. The oddest thing was that there was not a blackberry to be found in it. Whatever. It was tasty. My version below is a little more tart than what they served up at the restaurant. You may want to add a bit more simple syrup if you have a sweet tooth.

Bramble
2 oz. gin
1 oz. lemon juice
3/4 oz. simple syrup
A few drops of creme de cassis
Pour gin, juice, and simple syrup over ice into shaker.  Shake vigorously so ice crushes. Pour all into short highball or fun jelly jar.  Slowly drop the cassis to provide the "bleeding" effect.
