The Noble Experiment

This weekend, with the help of our friends Gina and Jon, we embarked on an adventure to enjoy the wonders of a modern-day speakeasy.  To honor the days of Prohibition, this style bar is taking San Diego by storm.  We were thrilled to make our way to one of these secret destinations and enjoy a cocktail or two.  Our post is inspired by one of the delicious beverages we enjoyed last night.  We hope we did it justice with our make-shift recipe!  A variation on their Barbancourt Mule.

Make-shift Mule
2 oz. rum *
1/2 oz. lime juice
2 sprigs of mint
4-6 oz. ginger beer
Angostura bitters

In a shaker, add rum, lime juice, sprig of mint, 2 dashes of bitters, and ice.  Shake and strain into ice-filled glass. Top with ginger beer and stir.  Garnish with sprig of mint.

*Barbancourt Rhum was used in the speakeasy...not having any on hand and not traveling to Haiti anytime soon, we substituted and encourage you to do the same.
